摘要：The employment rate of single mothers in Japan is one of the highest among the advanced
countries. According to the 2006 Nationwide Single Mother Survey (NSMS) by the
Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the employment rate of single mothers in
Japan is as high as 84.5%, which is the second highest among the OECD countries and is
notably higher than many other advanced countries such as the United States (73.8%) and
the United Kingdom (56.3%) (OECD 2007, 16).
