摘要:The publication of this book in 2000 marked
the beginning of serious scholarship about religion
on the Internet. Other books have
appeared since then, but due credit must be
given to the editors of this volume for laying
the foundations of subsequent studies. Their
project was a pioneering attempt to establish
the parameters for research on a phenomenon
that has already undergone significant changes
in the past few years. It is also the case, unfortunately,
that J.K.H., the senior co-editor, died
in April 2003. It is only fitting, then, that his
last major work is a tribute to his far-sighted
perception of the Internet’s importance for religion
and for scholars of religion.
