标题:La expansión de religiones afrobrasileñas en Argentina: representaciones conflictivas de cultura, raza y nación en un contexto de integración regional
摘要:The expansion of Afro-Brazilian religions in the Southern Cone is an example of a flow of popular cultural goods that predates the development of the MERCOSUR. In order to analyze this circulation, and the conflicts it produces, the paper provides a brief history of the development of Afro-Brazilian religions in Argentina and examines the social reaction to their presence. In a context of growing concern about “cults”, it shows how practitioners re-appropriate the national origin of their religion in an effort to improve its image. Finally, it analyzes how members of the diplomatic corps of different nations (Brazil, Argentina and Nigeria) try to appropriate or distance themselves from these religions in their efforts to present certain images of their nations in a context of increasing regional integration.
