本研究の目的は教師の職業ストレスを改善するために,ストレス抑制方法の議論につながる要因を取り上げ,そのストレス抑制効果を検討することである。ストレス抑制要因として職務ストレッサーである職務葛藤と,職業生活の適応に有効であるとされる職業人の認知・態度からなるキャリア適応力を取り上げることとした。また,ストレス反応についてはバーンアウトを測定するBurnout Inventoryとともに,独自に行動的ストレス反応の質問項目を作成することで測定することとした。2003年に小・中学校教師を対象に調査を実施し,3701部の有効回答を分析の対象とした。職務葛藤,キャリア適応力,ストレス反応の因子構造を確認した上で二元配置の分散分析を用いて年代ごとのストレッサー・ストレス反応過程モデルの検討を行った。その結果,職務葛藤は各年代でストレッサーとなっており,キャリア適応力は特に40代教師でのストレス抑制効果がみられた。

The purposes of the present study were to examine factors associated with the causes of stress by teachers, and to examine the effect of controlling stress on the teachers' overall occupational stress. Stress among elementary and junior high school teachers can be caused by official conflicts and also by career adaptability, including the teachers' cognitions and attitudes. In 2003, elementary and junior high school teachers (N = 3,701) completed the Burnout Inventory and also listed their stressors. A two-way ANOVA revealed the following factors : official conflict, career adaptability, and stress responses. An ANOVA comparing stress responses across age groups indicated that official conflicts produce stress at all ages studied, whereas career adaptability mainly affected teachers in their forties.
