摘要:I aim in this paper to discuss the complex relation between soccer, media and sociability in Brazilian society. Starting from a reflection on sports mediatization, I discuss some of its consequences for the sports, the media and the social field. After a few remarks on the remarkable presence of soccer in contemporary Brazilian culture, I relate the social use of soccer to the context of masculine sociability in Brazil, given its peculiar combination of competition, joking and safe distance of threats to the self, which make this sport an everyday theme and a topic par excellence of masculine sociability in Brazilian society.
