摘要:MUCH OF THE DEBATE about
globalization has been centred
around the World Trade Organization
and the impact of international
trade agreements negotiated under its
auspices. And much of the concern
about food security has focused on the
Agreement on Agriculture (AoA) negotiated
as part of the Uruguay Round
agreements signed in 1994. The AoA
says little explicitly about developing
countries’ concerns with food security.
But its proclaimed goal of establishing
“a fair and market-oriented agricultural
trading system” by reducing tariffs
and subsidies could have a significant
impact on food production and security.
