摘要：There can be found some areas that enrich the natural patrimony and the beauty of which deserves to
be well-known: the Site from Bordu.ani with a chain of natural lakes, such as Bentu Mic, Bentu Mic-Cotoi,
and Bentu Mare, a diverse flora and fauna, as well as Bordu.ani cut-off-lobe. The area is an important habitat
for the aquatic birds, as there were identified 20 species that require specific protection and 33 species that
require strict protection. As it is located on the eastern migration path, the area in question is important
because it offers rest and food for rare or extremely rare species.
Another area is represented by the oak forest ¨C Canton H..i., located within the low dammed alluvial plain of
the Danube. It protects some old oak trees (150-300 years old), most of them (90 per cent) of about 300 years
old, which is quite rare for the region. From the flora and fauna point of view, the present natural habitat is
important as a resource of floristic genetic fond, as a shelter for the animals specific to wet areas, and as a
passage corridor for migratory birds.
Balta Ialomi.ei is located between the Borcea Branch and the Old Danube; it was initially a surface covered by
reed, lakes, forests, which is presently agriculturally used. The forests develop only at its extremities.
These areas require the preservation of the natural habitats, of the wild flora and fauna, which are true
treasures of the natural patrimony.
