摘要：Although there are controversies regarding the age limit for the young population3, in this case the
unemployment analysis implies the people aged between 15 and 29 years, that is an intermediate time period
between the late childhood and the early adulthood. The economic transition that Dolj County also passes
through at present is visibly marked in the field of human resources utilisation, the driving forces of the changes
restraining even more the labour at regional and national level. The surplus of the labour force, in both absolute
and relative value, has a special incidence in the groups making up the young population of Dolj County, where
more than a third of the total number of the unemployed people is recorded.
The general rate of unemployment (11.2% in 1999), although a little bit lower as compared to the national value
(11.4% in 1999), has greatly increased, as compared to the previous years, when it hardly exceeded 7 %. The
decline lately noticed in the employment of the labour force, accentuated by the economic decreasing process,
influences directly the process of liberalisation of the labour market. So, the pressure of the offer of the labour
force, has as consequences a certain tendency of increasing of unemployment rate.
