摘要：The characteristic relief with depressions and low slopes, mild climate with sub-Mediterranean
influences, fertile soil and subsoil rich in resources, the presence of the Danube in proximity and, not at last, its
location at the border of the great empires, made the Or.ova area a favourable place for settlements.
In spite of all these, the relief remained relatively unchanged until 1970, when the basin Por.ile de Fier I was
made and water covered the larger part of the fields, the five settlements of the area being removed or destroyed.
This construction had a strong impact on the natural environment (relief, hydrography, flora, fauna, soil) and on
the socio-economic elements (settlements removal, various floods of the agricultural fields, temporary jobs,
production of cheap electric power, facilitation of the navigation).
