摘要:The Canadian National Students’ Conference in International Development Studies, more commonly known
as the “InSight Conference,” is the product of the collective efforts of approximately 200 undergraduate
International Development Studies (IDS) students from across Canada over the past fve years. Their hard
work in organization and participation has helped to establish the conference within the framework of the
annual conference of the Canadian Association for the Study of International Development (CASID) and the
yearly Congress of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences (CFHSS). Our gratitude
extends to the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Canadian Association for the Study of
International Development (CASID), the Canadian Consortium of University Programs in IDS (CCUPIDS), and
all of the university departments who have provided fnancial support, logistical input, and encouragement
for the InSight initiative since its inception. In an attempt to mark this fve-year milestone, we provide some
refections for InSight into the birth, development, and future of the conference. We hope that future InSight
supporters look to this document and the previous years’ documents1

for a record of the history of this
initiative, as well as a source of new ideas and encouragement as the InSight Conference continues to serve
the interests of the Canadian undergraduate IDS population.
