摘要:Setting up an innovative new firm is a way of commercializing knowledge. The paper gives
an overview of the extent of new firm formation in knowledge intensive and in innovative
German industries and their development. The founding of a new firm is to a considerable
degree shaped by regional context conditions. These factors, therefore, constitute a well suited
starting point for policy. Finally, suggestions for policy measures are given and problems of
promoting new firm formation are discussed.
