摘要:In this paper we analyze the failure behavior of beam-column connections of reinforced concrete under monotonic loads which are energetically equivalent to seismic action. At material level, we consider a conrinuos model for concrete based on the flow theory of plasticity. The capability of this model to predict the behavior of plain concrete under multiaxial states of stresses has beeen tested in differents analysis, see Etse & Willam and Lorefice & Etsel. The results show the dramatic variation of failure mechanism that govern the cracking of the beam-column connection with respect to the geometrical relationship and the flexural rigidity between beam and column. On this sense the design criterion, strong column-weak beam, leads to a system with great capacity to dissipate energy, characterized by a stable post-peak behavior. In addition, the results show the ability of the numerical model to predict the failure behavior of complex systems like reinforced concrete beam-column connections.
