摘要:This qualitative study explores the experiences of perceived racism and social isolation
of African Americans residing in a predominantly Anglo American community. The study
utilized focus groups and open-ended questions that allowed African American residents
to speak about experiences with important issues such as racism and social isolation
while residing in this community. The paper is a summation of two separate focus groups
consisting of African American residents who had responded to newspaper ads and
community bulletins regarding this research study. Each group consisted of three women
and one man, and represented various years of maintaining residence in their community.
Implications for social work education are explored
