摘要:Eleven main climatostratigraphic horizons (units) have been documented in the Pleistocene of the Volhynian Polesie. Six of them (Pryazovsk, Sula, Tiligul, Dnieper 1, Dnieper 2 = Tyasmyn, Valday) represent global coolings, and five (Martonosha, Lubny, Zavadivka, Kaydaky, Pryluky) correspond to global climatic warmings. All distinguished horizons have been correlated with the glaciations and interglacials in Poland as well as with the oxygen isotopic stadia in deep marine deposits. The possibility of three advances of the Scandinavian ice-sheet on the study area has been proved: during the Oka (Sanian 2) Glaciation documented by the Tiligul horizon, during the Dnieper 1 (Krznanian) Glaciation and during the Dnieper 2 (Odranian) Glaciation documented by the Tyasmyn horizon. It has been proved that the Kaydaky (Lublinian Interglacial) and Pryluky (Eemian Interglacial) horizons should be treated separately.
The presented data indicate that so far there has been no sufficient basis for identification of the Pleistocene climatostratigraphic units older than the Pryazovsk horizon (= Nida Glacial) in the Volhynia Polesie.
The described horizons can be fully correlated with continental glaciations and separating them interglacials in Poland and Belarussia. Thus, the area of the Volhynia Polesie can be regarded as a region of great significance for works on stratigraphy and palaeogeography of this part of Europe in Pleistocene
