摘要：The genus Eleocharis R.Br. (Cyperaceae) within temporary aquatic ecosystems on the plain
shores of Rio de Janeiro State.
A research of the Eleocharis (Cyperaceae) species within temporary aquatic ecosystems on the plain shores
of Rio de Janeiro State – Brazil was presented. The genus Eleocharis is represented, in the region, by nine
species: Eleocharis acutangula (Roxb.) Schult., E. elongata Chapm., E. flavescens (Poir.) Urb., E. geniculata
(L.) Roem. & Schult., E. interstincta (Vahl) Roem. & Schult., E. maculosa (Vahl) Roem. & Schult., E. montana
(Kunth) Roem. & Schult., E. mutata (L.) Roem. & Schult. and E. sellowiana Kunth. A species identification
key, their descriptions and illustrations, comparative tables on morphological data, besides geographical
distribution and habitats data, are being presented. New occurrences are being registered to E. geniculata,
E. montana, E. mutata e E. sellowiana.
