摘要:Activity of Organisms in a Stem of the Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.
Borings and galleries were analised in one fossil wood fragment from Serra Alta Formation, Upper Permian,
Paraná Basin. Some regions were well preserved allowing for the observation of well preserved wall cells. The
wood destruction by insects was accompained by the degradation of wood cell by fungi and bacteria. In
these regions the silica precipited from the borders to the center forming concentric rings that were empty
before mineralization, suggesting a subsequent diagenetic process.
