摘要:Falling water tables, rising temperatures, soil erosion and desertification are likely to result in
increasing food prices. A doubling of world grain prices could disrupt global economic progress,
and this in turn could be the world’s wake-up call. At that point it would be clear that “Plan A”
– business as usual – cannot work much longer. The three principal components of “Plan B”
are: increasing global water productivity; putting the brakes on population growth; and reducing
carbon emissions to stabilize the climate.
