Since a few years, deep changes have occurred in French rural spaces, both various and interdependent, as for town-country migratory flows, involving new relational systems and identity questioning. Those changes are, of course, privileged observation posts for the understanding of the new spatial segregation at work in rural spaces. We shall take the example of the process of creation of natural parks, in order to enlighten the new regulatory mechanisms that try to manage this conflictual transition period. French natural parks cover the administrative territory of several communes but do not correspond to any homogeneous "natural" or social area: one could not find any of them built on the living-space of any community sharing a real and strong collective memory . Actually, the process of natural park building is based on the ideal of local autonomy, aiming at the self-development of an intercommunalité . Used as an instrument for sustainable development, in an increasingly mobile society, in which everyone asks a right to access to space (both for residence, and for tourism and leisure activities), this type of structure tries to redefine the logics of rural spaces by introducing every involved person to a common reflection.
