摘要:This research aims at examining whether the learning strategies employed by the primary school students in
social studies lessons and their achievement motivation towards the social studies course vary significantly in terms of
their grade levels and genders and the relationship between their motivation levels and learning strategies. 555 students
(355 from 1st-5th grades and 198 from 6th-8th grades, of whom 278 are girls and 275 are boys) from five primary
schools in İzmir, one of the most populated cities of Turkey, have participated in research. The data were collected
through “The Scale for Achievement Motivation”. The research has discerned that the students whose achievement
motivation is high use more learning strategies.
