摘要：Among the existing mechanisms for environmental planning that can be adopted, the landscape ecology and environmental zoning have been highlighted as strategic, as they search to balance the economic development and the quality of the environmental. This paper presents a methodology that combines legislation with landscape ecology, and thus an environmental zoning that preserves forest areas even outside permanent protected areas (PPA) imposed by legislation, taking as a study area the Taquari Valley, RS, Brazil. The results show that 45% of the lands are indicated as intensive use (AUI), 38% for restricted use (AUR), 14% are PPAs and 2.3% correspond to the drainage. However, in AUI and AUR are 19.05% and 9.05% respectively, of forested area that, according to the criteria of the landscape ecology, should be preserved.
