摘要:LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data have shown a great potential for 3D modelling applications. This potential lies on the ability of LiDAR systems to generate highly dense 3D point clouds for describing the terrain surface. Several error sources affect the position accuracy of the 3D points, which are represented as offsets between the overlapping areas. Throughout this paper, the utility of an area-based matching technique is evaluated to correct the planimetric offset found between two data sets of the same area. The offset was considerably reduced (RMSE: 0,5 and 1,4 m. X, Y to RMSE: 0,24 and 0,3 m. in X, Y). Subsequently, a digital canopy height model (DCHM) was generated to estimated the height of the vegetation, and the effects of the planimetric offset was evaluated. Significant differences were observed between the DCHM generated from the uncorrected data and the DCHM obtained after adjusting both datasets.
