摘要：There is an ever-growing demand for wireless devices to access multimedia data on the Internet as well as from other information sources. With different types of wireless devices proliferating in the market, the challenge is not only in providing real-time media-rich content to those devices, but also in exploring possibilities of a context-aware self-adaptive and self-managing autonomic ways of streaming such data in a highly distributed and heterogeneous environment. This paper explores autonomic computing aspects that would help in enhancing multimedia applications in the mobile world. In this context, it provides the various perspectives of autonomic computing and the challenges this emerging concept poses. It proposes an autonomic mobile agent architecture that could address the issues faced by mobile multimedia applications.
