摘要:The relationship between the main character of the novel, called Quinn, and the city where he
lives, New York, is analyzed in the first part of this article. The detective created by Auster,
accepting the chaos that surrounds him, embarks on a conscientious trip to the human life
uncertainties and the trustworthiness of the facts happened in the so-called postmodern reality.
An important reflex of this situation is the genre that he uses. Subsequently, in the second part,
we have the opportunity of contrasting the novel with the film; in that case, we could appreciate
how the same city can be decisive, in a very different way, to another character that lives
tragically alone among the crowd.
