摘要:This paper examines a set of strategies, especially discursive ones, that would established the imperative of computerization, that would have conditioned the use of computers in the municipal system of education of Novo Hamburgo (RS-Brazil) in the 1980’s. Based on foucauldian and cultural studies, I analyze and demonstrate how the computerization of the city public education emerges and begins to be thought. Throughout the text, I examine the journalistic campaign discourse, self-proclaimed as communitarian ? Projeto Agora: a conquista do computador (Now: the conquest of the computer) ?, taking place under the coordination of the city only newspaper. Conceptual tools derived from foucauldian teorization, had allowed me to focus this campaign as a strategy to govern city inhabitants, showing the construction of a strategical discursive apparatus to seduce people through a set of enunciations produced according to sctrict rules established by the campaign itself. Finally, I discuss the connections between the use of computers in education and the city economic life, showing that using computers in the city education meant to a great extent investing in technology and in the production of citizens able to guarantee the continuity of the progress trajectory and economic development of the industrial city, and less an educational question.
