摘要:This paper presents the first “insights” arising from an image-based research project focused on the ‘subjective image making’ technique. The subjects of the research are some American students spending a semester in Italy and facing different cultural values and everyday life habits, in an urban context where global, local and ‘glocal’ interlace, further increasing the complexity one must decode. At the roots of the research project stand the following questions: 1. To what extent the visual dimensions of the urban social life lead the outsiders to know and interpret the alien culture? 2. To what extent the cultural stereotypes play a crucial role in such knowledge and interpretation? Being the work in progress, a preliminary analysis of the pictures made by the students allows us to discuss about these topics.
