摘要:The purpose of this study was to investigate the opinions of second level elementary (6 to 8. grades)
students and teachers who are affected by the recently introduced high school entrance exam (SBS). A total of 1143
students and 172 subject teachers from 18 Erzurum elementary schools participated in the study. Students and teachers
were administered parallel form questionnaires, and eight teachers working for three private courses which train
students for secondary schools were interviewed. Results showed that there are no differences between the opinions of
the teachers and the students related to SBS, in general. Although there are certain objections with regard to content
and implementation of the SBS, students and teachers were more in favor of SBS (new system) instead of OKS (old
system). However, the new system has not prevented students from attending to private courses, but participants
favored SBS comparing to old exam, OKS. There seemed a gap between lifelong learning ideal as the MONE
proposed. Under the light of the findings, perceptions regarding the SBS and its future were discussed.
