摘要：The present review essay analyses in depth a recent publication by R. T. McLay, The Use of the Septuagint in New Testament Research . While presenting the principle findings of each chapter, special emphasis is given to the repercussions McLays conclusions have on the question regarding which text constitutes the biblical text. In the light of contemporary research more and more do we become aware of the fact that we do not have at our disposition the original OT biblical texts. This will imply first of all a new status assigned to the so far preeminent Masoretic Text ?one, albeit privileged, witness to the original biblical text; and second, a reconsideration of the value of the Septuagint implying its inspired status.
