摘要：This article is a study of contributions that Aristotle could have made on some general themes and on some concrete problems in the area of bioethics. First, it analyzes the Aristotelian notions of life and the living being. Then, it considers the specificity of human life with respect to other life forms. Third, it expounds diverse Aristotelian ideas on reproduction, conception, birth and death as essential parts of the life cycle. Fourth, the notions of health and illness are studied from the Aristotelian perspective, so as to expound, in a fifth moment, his concept of the duty of the physician. Sixth, some concrete themes are discussed, especially abortion and euthanasia. The article concludes with a judgement on the value of Aristotle抯 bioethics.
