摘要:The growing recognition over the last few years of the importance of human resources for organizational excellence has led
in many cases to an increased emphasis on gaining employee loyalty. Nonetheless, not all workers have the same type of
employee relationship, either due to the organization’s concern for economic efficiency, or simply as a consequence of
supervisors’ different approaches to people management. In any case, we believe that organizations should, on the one
hand, clearly define the type of relationship they wish to establish with their employees, and on the other hand, try to main-
tain consistency with regard to different human resource practices and their own strategy. This is necessary in order to
ensure that the diverse messages individuals receive will help them to develop realistic expectations, thus lowering the like-
lihood of a perceived breach in their psychological contract. We have therefore reviewed the classifications of employee
relationships developed by authors from different research areas with a view to proposing a synthesis that combines the
most important elements of each.
