摘要:This article deals with the mural painting created by the Chilean artist Arturo
Gordon Vargas, which was presented at the Ibero-American Exposition held in Seville,
Spain in 1929. It is fundamentally based on the homonymous research carried out in
2007 as part of the project fi nanced by the Fund to Support Heritage Research (FIP)
of the Dirección de Bibliotecas, Archivos y Museos (DIBAM). Such pictorial corpus is
comprised of three large, important canvases: “Fruit of the earth”, “The grape harvest”
and “The Araucanian industry”.
Considering the lack of existing data related to these particular visual records,
the development of a historical and esthetical research of the mural, an appropriate
documentation and specifi c scientifi c analyses are required in order to propose a material,
theoretical and referential fundament to build up information on both the canvases and
the author. This material in turn will serve to support the restoration and conservation
processes to be applied in the future on such signifi cant supports by the institutions that
safeguard them.
