摘要:The objective of this study was to assess self esteem and autoefficacious
among Chileans, contrasting them against demographic data, suggesting hypothesis related to the results. A theoretical model is also presented, which relates self esteem and autoefficacious to motivation, performance and work satisfaction. A
nation wide survey was carried out, based on the “Rosenberg” Test
for self esteem and the “Baessler & Schwarzer” test for the autoefficacious
(Baessler y Schwarzer 1996). The universe included Chilean 18 years of age and older living in the capital cities of the
different regions. The study sample comprised 600 individuals. The design of the sample was probabilistic. The interviews were personal. The information was analyzed though descriptive statistics one way
ANOVA and Contingency Chart Analysis. The results show that self esteem does not vary significantly from gender, but it does for age, marital status, work situation, social economic level and geographic zone. In correspondence with the theoretical model presented, the
hypothesis that were elaborated stated that if self esteem and autoefficacious
are foster together with motivation, the result would be a better performance at work and higher satisfaction, which, in turn, would drive workers to make more efforts in order to achieve the
organizational goals.
