摘要:The continuous growth of agricultural production and the projection of our country as an export power of this type of products, brings with it the risk of exposure of agricultural workers to pesticides, specially in regions IV to X of our country. A particular risk is that presented by organophosphates and carbamates pesticides due to the inhibition of cholinesterase present in the body. The laboratory diagnosis methods more used in our country are the Lovibond, pH Stat and the Butyrilcholinesterase which perform an indirect monitoring of exposure to pesticides through determination of plasmatic cholinesterase activity. Chile, aware of this increasing problem, created back in the early 90’s the National Network of Epidemiologic Surveillance of Pesticides. In this regard Laboratorios Clínicos ACHS/ Arauco Salud/INDISA with a high demand for analysis of patients exposed to pesticides, has obtained the reference values of 4.50 and 10.98 for women and a 3.37 to 10.23 for men which is consistent with values described in international literature.
