Earth Day, with its reverberating impact on campus environmental leaders, has a story to tell. It is a story of responding to urgent threats to the biosphere. It is equally a story of celebration. As an act of activism, Earth Day has ushered in sweeping changes in American environmental regulation; as a ceremonial event, it has also catalyzed campus environmental leadership for more than thirty-five years.
