The main goal of this research it to discover trends related to the adoption of 2.0 tools by the Spanish online newspapers and its correspondence with the users´ preferences; to achieve it, a comparison between the resources employed by them in 2006 and 2008 is carried out. A total of 85 and 90 online newspapers are analysed in 2006 and 2008, respectively, all of them with print editions and its circulation being controlled by OJD. Content analysis provides data about the use of 2.0 tools, which are discussed in relation with users´ preferences, according to a NAA (2008) research and trends in American online newspapers.
