The dissemination of digital repositories raises in the scope of informational society and informationalism (Castells: 2000), within the arrival of new subjects and techno-sciences, which acts in the interdisciplinarity, shares objects of study and, frequently, appropriates concepts and terminology mutually, in force of the dynamics of the technological and social changes, in a accelerating pace in proportion to the spacing from industrial societies.
This article aims to dive in the diversity of concepts and uses of the expression “digital repository” and, then, to reflect about on how this service/institution is born, sometimes considered specific to be used in scientific community and universities, sometimes a service which can be used in public or private organizations, creating the types of thematic and institutional repositories.
