This paper presents as background the paradigm shift from modernity to post-modernity with special emphasis in the education process. The impacts of multimedia, non-linear narrative and internet in learning are also presented, modifying in the way learning and understanding happens. Considerations regarding the introduction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning environments are crucial to develop new ways of knowledge production as well as to promote the experience of web authoring, as individuals and groups. In this context was conceived and developed NEXUS – From Information to Knowledge http://nexus.futuro.usp.br, a portal that constitutes a research project on virtual learning environments. Implemented in 2001, the portal is dedicated to Library and Information Science undergraduate students at the School of Arts and Communications of the University of São Paulo - Brazil. Recently, in 2007, project of Marketing Information was integrated the NEXUS in their environment.
