摘要：The configurations approach has achieved an increasing level of success in explaining entrepreneurial behavior. As most of the perspectives in growth with significant acceptance by the scientific community, the development of studies about configurations has often occurred uncritically. Therefore, aiming at the elaboration of this perspective, this paper intended to present a set of reflections concerning the nature of the approach in the entrepreneurship studies field, conceptual and methodological criticisms, opportunities to advance from such criticisms and possible ways of coping with methodological challenges. As a conclusion, the paper highlights the entrepreneurship phenomenon as remarkably complex, which is composed and influenced by several elements, and it consequently requires a specific approach to explain the multiplicity of elements that structure the construct. In addition, there are several criticisms to be answered by researchers who adopt this approach as well as there are opportunities to advance from the researchers’ reflection.
