摘要:Economic times are bleak and, around the world,
employers and employees anxiously await signs of
economic recovery from the earthshaking events of the
past few years. In the meantime, however, drastic times
call for drastic measures. Employers across the country
are implementing staff reductions and/or formulating
plans to reduce their workforces in an effort to cut
costs and ensure their survival. While a reduction in
force (RIF) is sometimes completely necessary and
unavoidable, it presents its own set of problems. From
negative publicity to dwindling employee morale to
potential legal liability, a RIF may create more problems
for an employer than it actually solves.
