This essay tries to present the biographical aspects of Jürgen Moltmann, his contributions to theology and the influence his thought has impressed upon the Brazilian scenery. The receptivity of Jürgen Moltmann’s theology has caused a sense of gratitude towards this theologian and the recognition of his ideas for the Brazilian theological reflection in a context marked by exploration, injustice and suffering. His systematic contributions for theology show his concern for refl ecting on matters experienced in people’s daily lives, but above all, for spreading an eschatological hope for all mankind, in which the kingdom of God is experienced with justice and love.
