This essay tries to present the biographical aspects of Jürgen Moltmann, his contributions to theology and the influence his thought has impressed upon the Bra­zilian scenery. The receptivity of Jürgen Moltmann’s theology has caused a sense of gratitude towards this theologian and the recognition of his ideas for the Brazilian theological reflection in a context marked by exploration, injustice and suffering. His systematic contributions for theology show his concern for refl ec­ting on matters experienced in people’s daily lives, but above all, for spreading an eschatological hope for all mankind, in which the kingdom of God is expe­rienced with justice and love.
