摘要：This paper has the objective of identifying the perception of Information Technology managers about the adoption of IT Governance practices in their organizations, as well the results obtained from this adoption. It involves an exploratory research, performed through interviews with 44 professionals of the IT area, 11 of who are CIOs and 33 middle managers. The respondents work in mid-sized and large organizations from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, with relevant involvement in the economical setting. The research instrument was developed by Weill and Ross (2004) and evaluates the importance and the performance of IT Governance, as well the practices of those responsible for IT decisions. The results of this study show that IT Governance is an important subject for the organizations, but its influence in the measurement of business success doesn't match the level of importance assigned to it. With respect to decision making in the IT area, the archetypes of IT Governance characterized as Monarchy of IT are the most common ones, where the decisions are concentrated on the hands of a few powerful executives. The results also showed that the CIOs are more critical with respect to the IT Governance performance than other respondents.
