摘要:Periodic abstinence can be illicit if it is not lived for serious motives–i.e. as a virtuous responsible manifestation of the vocation of the spouses to parenthood–, but it can never be used as a form of contraception. Periodic abstinence and contraception are two different types of acts. The moral problem of periodic abstinence for the purpose of regulating conception does not lie in the finis operis, but in the finis operantis, that could be egoistic or futile. These ideas are exposed in the analysis of G. Grisez’s thought.
