摘要:This article speaks of a collaborative action research project called Research for a Relevant Curriculum, whose aims and procedures are fully explained in the article entitled “A investigação enquanto prática de deliberação curricular: o caso do projecto ICR” published in this journal. This text illustrates the potential of action research projects to the promotion of reflective teaching and critical analysis of contexts and practices, as well as to the improvement of educational processes and students’ achievement, especially those who do not seem to find interest or relevance in school curriculum or classroom tasks. Throughout the text we present some pedagogical strategies that contribute to the increase of meaningful learning and curriculum relevance. The strategies described (story writing, project work and problem solving) were implemented during the school year of 2009/2010 by four basic education teachers who participate in ICR’s team. Its selection derived from the observation of some students’ lack of interest for school in general or for certain subjects in particular, from the interviews carried out with those students and some data collected about their academic profile, their interests and activities outside school and socioeconomic background.
