ABSTRACT: The aim of the present article was to discuss the changes caused by society in the Christian death and, consequently in the space organization of the cities. The initial premise is that any city or urban space is susceptible to reconstruction as long as the culture of the society advances, i.e., it is modified, and either conscious or unconsciously reorganizes its space. In this statement, it is possible to assert that death as social product has been modifying the space of the cities along with the society. Besides, some huge alterations in the territory of the death have taken place in the course of the history. From the moment that Christianity becomes the official religion of the state, the church turned the death into a ritual presents in people’s daily life. However, since Church and State tear apart other transformations are triggered so that the death would no longer occupy the same sacred territory of the Churches.
