This symposium was designed to clarify the contents and methods of education for multi-handicapped children. Recently the task of education for multi-handicapped children has become more and more complicated and difficult on account of an increasing number of multi-handicapped children. In the past the main purpose of education for multi-handicapped children was, first to train children's daily conduct and their communication behavior based on the spoken language, and then to make them overcome their handicap. In the future, we believe it necessary to drastically improve the conducts and methods of education in terms of the formation processes of human behavioral organization. From now on it will be necessary to clarify such new conducts and methods of education concerning multi-handicapped children through a longitudinal study. It will be helpful to establish essentially new training method of education for multi-handicapped children. The contents and methods are to form the basis for an integrated human behavior at a higher level.
