In this paper we highlight the relations between some of the contemporary phenomena and their effects on the child´s body. We start from the assumption that the utilitarian relations, the consumerist ideal and symbolic weakness currently contribute not only to the formation of symptoms in the child´s body but also for the fact that the child´s body is taken as an object by another. From the analysis of a clinical case, we conclude that the contemporary setting makes the existence of significant impossibilities in the process of subject constitution. Such impossibilities result in the difficulty of the passage from the body enjoyment to language.
