摘要:The aim of this study was to try to demonstrate that continuous and formative assessment in Physical Education Teacher Education usually produces better results in academic performance. The research design can be considered an exploratory multicase study (A=50 students; B=120 students; and C=61 students). We present the results of three centers, where formative assessment processes were carried out throughout an academic year. Each center established the assessment processes in a different subject. Students had the option to be evaluated by different alternative ways of learning, according to the method and the assessment process they choose (continuous or final). The data are derived from the assessment instruments used in each subject, and official data of academic performance of each case. The results showed that students who chose the path of formative assessment obtained better academic performance than students who opt for the final evaluation. There were some methodological shortcomings which do not allow us to make a comparison or any generalization between the three cases.
