摘要:This article presents a theoretical discussion about the adoption of the terms textual genre or discursive genre. When we assume that there are different consequences arising from the use of these expressions we discuss the different positions of some authors about this dichotomy. For this, we rely on the contribution of Bakhtin (2003), Adam (2008), Bronckart (2003, 1999) and Rojo (2005), mainly. Considering that the concept of discourse competence can not be detached from concepts such as speaking and the language and concepts such as society, social practices, social institutions, language communities and citizenship, we conclude that, since knowing the diversity of existent discursive genres in different social spheres, the speaker discursively competent can move from one institution to another, from one sphere to another, actively participate in social practices specific to each institution and think about possible changes in these practices.
