摘要:Abstract: the purpose of this paper is to investigate basketry and textile techniques used
by food-producing communities that inhabited the central sector of the Sierras of Cor-
doba, Argentina. The study sample, recovered from surface collection and stratigraphic excavations, comes from Huaycondo, San Roque, El Fantasio and La Quinta sites, all
located in the Punilla Valley. The analysis made allowed us to recognize that the predo-
minant basketry technique was wrapped twining, followed by coiled. In regard to the nets
we recognized two kinds: square mesh nets and diamond mesh nets. Finally, we propose
that these results, seen from a comparative perspective, exhibit a strong contrast with that
reported in neighboring regions, such as Salsacate Valley, where the leading basketry
technology is coiled. Thus, it is feasible to hypothesize the presence of specificities in the
technological field related to certain geographical areas.
