摘要:This article describes the process of developing standards for Brazilian school libraries. It presents the principles, theoretical framework and criteria upon which such standards were based. The main goal of the standards is to help schools implement the Law 12244/2010, which determines that, as of 2020, each Brazilian school must have its own library. More broadly, the standards allow comparative studies that may support public policies aimed at improving the quality of education. The standards may contribute to the creation of quality libraries in every school in the country, or in other words, towards each school having a true library.
