摘要：Analyses the factors which contribute to the absence of the librarian in CPDCs. It employs the case study method for the investigation of previously chosen centres. Based on interviews and analysis of the data it is possible to infer that the principal barrier the librarian encounters with relation to the market of popular documentation arises basically from his training which privileges technicism in detriment to a contextualised understanding essential for his insertion in the new markets.
